SAN JUAN, Texas – Pharr-San Juan- Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) Special Education Department in partnership with Texas Parent to Parent recently hosted the 2026 South Texas Parent Conference on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at PSJA Early College High School. The free conference brought together dozens of attendees from across the Rio Grande Valley with a shared commitment to supporting students with disabilities and special health care needs.

The FREE conference was for parents, self-advocates, family members, educators, service providers, and other community members interested in topics related to children with disabilities, chronic & mental health conditions and other health care needs.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in a variety of professional-led presentations, along with 16 breakout sessions focused on topics relevant to special education, family support, and student advocacy. The conference also featured local and state vendors, offering families the chance to connect directly with organizations and services available throughout the region.
“One of the benefits of being able to host this conference here at PSJA is being able to keep our community informed,” said PSJA Special Education Director Veronica Quintana. “We want our parents to feel informed, empowered, and confident knowing we have the resources to support them every step of the way.”

For many parents, the conference provided meaningful insight and practical tools they can use at home and in their child’s educational journey.
“I’m very glad that I was invited to attend this conference,” said PSJA Parent Nancy Talavera whose child attends Raul Longoria Elementary. “When I’m able to learn more about assisting and supporting my child not only at home, but also in the classroom it gives me the confidence to know that my child is going to succeed in his educational journey.”
