2024 Careers and Coffee Job Expo, Oct. 16th

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The City of Brownsville, in collaboration with the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) is set to host the 4th Annual Careers and Coffee Job Expo on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at theBrownsville Events Center. The recruitment event is the premiere job expo in South Texas and will feature more than 2,000 employment opportunities including with some of the largest employers in the South Texas market, SpaceX and Bechtel Energy Corporation.

Residents of Brownsville and the surrounding communities who are interested in a new career pathway or looking for professional growth opportunities are invited to attend this free event. Attendees are encouraged to be prepared prior to arriving at the event with a hard copy and electronic resume, ready to verbally showcase their skill set and work experience, and network goals.

“This job expo is designed to meet the needs of job seekers at all career levels, from entry- level to executive roles,” said Perla Cepeda, Organizational Development and Human Resources Department Director at the City of Brownsville. “Our Careers and Coffee Job Expo will offer a unique opportunity for professionals to network with hiring entities and possibly even receive an interview on-site. Featured industries attending include healthcare, government, aerospace, construction, engineering, manufacturing, social services, finance, and education.”

More than 50 major employers will be present at the expo, including Brownsville Public Utilities Board, ValleyRegional Medical Center, Valley Baptist Health System, United Way of Southern Cameron County, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Texas Southmost College, Brownsville Independent School District, Gulf Stream Marine, WorkforceSolutions Cameron, Welding Works International, and many more will be in attendance. Some employers may conduct on-the-spot interviews for those eager to streamline their job search, expediting the hiring process.

“The job expo is going to feature complimentary head shots, resume writing assistance, and personal interview counseling,” said Jerry Briones, Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation Deputy Director. “This is a terrificopportunity for professional development for all those looking to grow in their respective journey.”
