Congratulations to Layla M. Gonzalez a 7th grader from Jose J. Alderete Middle School for winning the 2022 “I Voted” Sticker Contest! Second place is for Jair Herrera a 6th grader from Del Valle Middle School and third place is for Luna D. Robledo a 6th grader from Hanks Middle School. The first place design will make its grand debut during the 2022 elections. Thank you to our judges Christin Apodaca, local Illustrator and Muralist, Chelsie Evaldi, owner of Chuco Relic and Miriam Garcia, Public Art Program Supervisor for the City of El Paso.
The El Paso County Elections Department invited local middle school students to participate in the second El Paso County “I Voted” sticker design contest. The contest was open to all middle school students in the county and the winning design will be used as the official “I Voted” sticker. The sticker will be distributed to voters at all Early Voting Locations and Election Day Vote Centers during the 2022 elections. The deadline to submit a design was October 28, 2021.
“The El Paso County Elections Department was excited to continue working with middle school students and encouraging their participation in the electoral process,” Lisa Wise, El Paso County Elections Administrator.
All three winners will be honored and recognized on Monday, December 6, 2021 by the El Paso County Commissioners Court.
