“As far as partnerships go, this one goes together like peanut butter and jelly,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling, which is great because those products and more can be found at this year’s McAllen Holiday Parade presenting sponsor’s 44 H-E-B stores found along the South Texas border from Laredo to Brownsville and of course, right here in McAllen.
“H-E-B is proud to be this year’s presenting sponsor of the McAllen Holiday Parade,” Norma Howard, Hispanic Advertising Account Manager for H-E-B. “The holidays in Texas would not be the same without H-E-B and being able to create, be a part of and to celebrate culture and family traditions, such as the McAllen Holiday Parade has become for the entire Rio Grande Valley, South Texas and northern Mexico is indeed something that we know is the perfect fit for H-E-B and our millions of customers. We are thrilled to show our continued commitment to our community through this sponsorship.”
“We are honored to celebrate the reason for the season with our beloved McAllen community during the most anticipated holiday event of the year,” said Tony Gonzalez, Director of Merchandising and Marketing H-E-B Border Region. “This exclusive partnership is our way of saying thank you to the community for their continued support of H-E-B throughout the Rio Grande Valley. We look forward to building on the parade’s success from last year and are excited to join in the celebration of this year’s festive holiday tradition!”
This year’s theme, “Christmas Around the World”, takes the idea that different cultures, different countries celebrate this magical holiday in very different ways, but ultimately, it is the spirit of the holiday: peace on Earth and goodwill towards men that will have the entire Rio Grande Valley rejoicing as the parade makes its way down Bicenntenial Boulevard.
The international-award-winning parade will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, and is the largest illuminated holiday and helium balloon parade in Texas. The parade features over 50 vibrant lighted and animated floats, approximately 40 larger-than-life inflatable character balloons, bands and a celebrity-filled line-up that is sure to thrill parade-goers of every age.
The one and a half mile long parade route begins at 6:00 p.m., starting from McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 North Bicentennial Boulevard, where reserved seating is available and heads south on Bicentennial Boulevard to Business U.S. Business 83, where free seating is available along the route on a first come, first serve basis.
This year’s McAllen Holiday Parade will once again be powered by over 11,250 horsepower from the Bert Ogden & Fiesta Dealerships 50 trucks used to pull the floats.
The Stadium seating tickets will soon be available for purchase at the McAllen Convention Center. For more information on the parade and future related activities, visit www.mcallenholidayparade.com.
The Mcallen Holiday Parade has earned over 90 industry awards in its short three-year lifespan, including being named the Best Parade in Texas in 2017 by the Texas Festival and Events Association and the Best Parade in the World in 2017 by the International Festival and Events Association. The McAllen Holiday Parade is hosted and organized by the City of McAllen and a bevy of corporate sponsors, local businesses and media partners who help bring this magical event to the Rio Grande Valley.
