Brownsville, Texas – The Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) announces today that 18 schools have been named to the 2019–2020 Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll for its high achievement in student success. The program, sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes. Brownsville ISD is one of 300 public school districts in Texasto be recognized. The 18 schools that have been named are Benavides Elementary, Breeden Elementary, Brite Elementary, Brownsville Early College High School, Egly Elementary, Garden Park Elementary, Gonzalez Elementary, Keller Elementary, Longoria Elementary, Manzano Middle School, Ortiz Elementary, Paredes Elementary, Pena Elementary, Pullam Elementary, Putegnat Elementary, Sharp Elementary, Vela Middle School, and Yturria Elementary. “We are honored to be recognized by educational and business leaders through the ERP Honor Roll,” said Dr. René Gutiérrez, superintendent of schools of Brownsville Independent School District. “We are continually striving to increase academic achivement and improve educational outcomes for all of our students. Our teachers and adminstrators are fully commited and we are thrilled to see their hard work and dedication produce such positive results.” The 2019-2020 Honor Roll is developed by ERP, a nonprofit organization that applies data science to help improve student outcomes and career readiness. ERP maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identifyhigher-performing schools and districts. Some important facts about the ERP Honor Roll are that it is the only award given in collaboration with business leaders, it includes graduation and dropout rate data, and it establishes a higher bar of performance than any other award. “Brownsville ISD did not apply for these awards,” added Gutiérrez. “Our results led them to us and because of our accomplishment, we will be featured on the ERP Honor Roll website. We are thankful for the hard work of our students and teachers.” Schools that receive the ERP Honor Roll distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
