Washington, DC — U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced the first round of investments in repairing Texas bridges under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Law he helped pass. Cuellar helped deliver $107.4 million for Texas to fix bridges in FY 2022, part of a total $537.1 million investment over the next five years.
The funding will help repair over 800 bridges in Texas, determined by the 2020 National Bridge Inventory.
“The Infrastructure Law is delivering results for our community. Repairing our bridges will make our community safer, grow our local economy by creating jobs and allowing commerce to move more efficiently, and help us stay connected,” said Congressman Cuellar. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure law is already proving to be an instrumental and game changing piece of legislation—one that has real results for the people of South Texas. I look forward to working with local entities who need assistance accessing funding for local infrastructure.”
The investment announced today is designed to help Texas repair local bridges that are critical for getting to school and work, moving commerce, and connecting communities. The Infrastructure Law also includes a separate program designed to support larger bridges through a competitive grant program. Details on that program will be announced later.
