WASHINGTON, D.C. – As city officials across the country continue to pander to the radical Left by attempting to defund their police departments, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released a video warning against the dangers of kowtowing to the demands of the far Left, and called on leaders to “stand up and defend America unapologetically.”
It is now abundantly clear that we cannot count on Democratic leaders to protect the most vulnerable Americans and the values we hold dear from the mob.
Earlier this week, former Vice President and presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden even went so far as to say that some funding should “absolutely” be redirected from police departments.
After rioters pulled down a statue of Christopher Columbus in her native Baltimore, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded by saying, “people will do what they do.”
Now, Members of Congress Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) are trying to use their notoriety as members of the “squad” to introduce federal legislation that would defund police departments to fund reparations. In a speech this week, “Squad” member Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) called for the dismantling America’s “system of oppression.”
That’s why Sen. Cruz is taking action and introducing legislation allowing suits against local officials who fail to keep Americans safe by pulling back police protection. Learn more about Sen. Cruz’s proposed legislation below:
“Sen. Cruz is working on a legislative proposal that will hold city officials financially responsible for the property damages and personal injuries that result from their decision to allow autonomous zones and/or order officers to stand down in the midst of rioting and looting.”
