The second cohort of Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers, under the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation, includes 11 recipients from UTRGV. Shown here are eight of the UTRGV recipients, at the UTRGV Education Complex on the Edinburg Campus – (from left) Gaspar Garcia, Diana Salas, Roger Juarez, Theresa Garza, Patricia Fuentes, Lariza Vazquez, Robert Torres and Keyla Ochoa. A total of 134 new scholars were selected and are committed to teaching in majority economically disadvantaged Texas public schools or in hard-to-fill subject areas.
