Rio Grande Valley Volunteers Unite to Support a Historic Festival Taking Place in McAllen

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce has had an incredible response from community members across the Rio Grande Valley committing to volunteer at this summer’s premier festival, MXLAN.
Steve Padilla, owner of Big River Brewery in Pharr and an alumnus of UTRGV legacy institution UT Pan American, says whichever kind of craft beer you prefer, his authentic brews came from ideas fermented in science classrooms at UTPA and from Valley-based cultural inspirations. Padilla, who got a degree in nursing in 2008 from UTPA, works a double week, full time as a nurse and another 30 to 40 hours brewing beer for his business. (UTRGV Photo by Paul Chouy)
