Texas Border Business
Diana Alejos, a migrant counselor at Johnny G. Economedes High School told Texas Border Business about her student Miriam Abigail Urquiza. That Miriam won the Albert Lee Wright, Jr. Memorial Scholarship this year, along with 2 other students in the Nation.
Mariam was also featured in the General Opening Session of the National Association of State Directors of Migrant Education Conference.
This year marks the 10th year out of the 17 years that this scholarship has been offered that Johnny G. Economedes High School competes and wins. It is a very competitive application process, and the school has had a total of 12 honorees.
Texas Border Business had already featured Miriam as one of the Rotary Club students of the month this last April. So we say Congratulation Miriam and Thank you to Diana E. Alejos.
