This May, at the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors’ meeting, the Harlingen EDC board, with great support from the City Commission, approved forgiving nearly $500,000 in loans. More than 50 Harlingen businesses borrowed money last year to help with economic challenges they faced due to mandated closures during the height of the pandemic.
