Mission, TX - When property owners in Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) receive their tax bills this fall, they will see a reduction in the tax rate for the fourth year in a row. The Board of Trustees adopted a property tax rate that is 6 cents lower than the previous year.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $700,000 to Support a Multi-Purpose Community Facility in Brownsville

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $700,000 grant to the city of Brownsville, Texas, to renovate a former warehouse to create the Cannery Public Market, a multi-purpose community building in the Mitte Cultural District. Momentum Mishap

August job gains for the US were disappointing, with an increase in total nonfarm payroll employment of 235,000 and the unemployment rate down 0.2 percentage point to 5.2%. An increase of this magnitude isn’t bad by historical standards and is, in fact, somewhat above the average during the 11 years of expansion prior to the pandemic. However, it’s not the strong economic recovery from the COVID downturn we would like to see, and it’s a far smaller increase than those observed in recent months.
