Following similar Disaster Declarations by the President, Governor, and County Judge, City of Peñitas Mayor Rigo Lopez today issued a Declaration of Disaster Due to Public Health Emergency related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, McAllen Mayor Jim Darling signed a Declaration of Local Disaster in relation to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

The Mission Consolidated Independent School District held an emergency meeting at noon today to address issues to ensure administration and staff have what is needed to provide for instruction, nutrition, and other needs of students as the community responds to COVID-19 and the closure of schools.
