Cornyn Pledges to Help Texas Recover, Rebuild

The Weslaco Chamber of Commerce held its 2nd annual Holiday lights nomination contest! The purpose of this initiative is to allow the community an opportunity to select a commercial and residential location in Weslaco that is in the holiday spirit! Locations are nominated via an online form and reviewed by a committee. This year’s winners received a trophy, sponsored by Valley Trophies in Weslaco as well as a yard sign that read Holiday Lights Winner. 

This year’s Commercial Winner was Nana’s Taqueria, 1802 S International Blvd, Weslaco, TX 78596. Stop by for some great food and beautifully festive decor! “We try to make a special place for our community. Thank you all so much; we love Weslaco!” said Mr. Trevino, Owner of Nana’s Taqueria. “It is so important that we create and support our community.” said Mr. Trevino.

The Residential Winner was nominated by their grandchildren, Rogelio and Adela Alaniz were the recipients of this year’s residential award. Mr. and Mrs. Alaniz, work hard each year to create a festive atmosphere for their family and neighbors. “We aren’t sure if we will be able to do it next year, but we’ve done this every year” said Mr. Alaniz. Mrs. Alaniz mentioned “Creating a tradition for our family, that’s why we do it…for my grandchildren.” Surrounded by a car parade of family cheering them on! 

Though it has been a challenging year for us all, we continue to see resilience and hope in our community! Keeping the Cheer here in Weslaco!
