RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday that the men’s basketball team will visit Tarleton State for a non-conference game on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Fans can watch the game online via ESPN+.

UTRGV’s previously scheduled Western Athletic Conference (WAC) series against New Mexico State and Tarleton State’s previously scheduled WAC series against Seattle U, set for Friday and Saturday, were canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests of Tier 1 personnel within the New Mexico State and Seattle U men’s basketball programs.

UTRGV had been scheduled to play this weekend’s games on the road while Tarleton State had been scheduled to play their games at home.

This game will not count in the WAC standings. UTRGV and Tarleton State remain scheduled to play a two-game WAC series at the UTRGV Fieldhouse March 5-6.

This is the second-ever meeting between these two programs, with the last one coming on Feb. 9, 1963, a 70-58 home win for legacy institution Pan American College one month and six days before Pan American won the NAIA National Championship.
