EDINBURG – State officials announced on Sunday that all state-run COVID-19 testing centers in Hidalgo County will be cancelled on Monday, February 15; Tuesday, February 16; and Wednesday, February 17 because of inclement weather.

In addition, all Curative private testing walk-up kiosks in Hidalgo County will be closed Sunday, February 14; and Monday, February 15.

State officials, which run the non-Curative testing sites, said they wanted to encourage people to stay off the roads when sub-freezing temperatures are expected to be reached in Hidalgo County.

Cancellations include testing that had been planned for PSJA ISD’s Old Ballew High School in San Juan.

On Wednesday, state officials will assess when the testing facilities will be reopened.

Officials are still evaluating whether the weather may affect any COVID-19 vaccine clinics that are planned for next week and are expected to make a final decision on Monday.
