Texas Border Business

The City of McAllen Engineering Department will begin a series of road closures on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, and run through Friday, March 13, 2020, for the Main and Harvey Drainage Improvement Project.

The closures will include:

  • Main Street from Daffodil Avenue to Whitewing Avenue, north and southbound:

Closed from: Wednesday, January 15, 2020, and run through Friday, March 13, 2020

  • Harvey Avenue from 12th Street to 16th Street, east and westbound, including the intersection of Main and Harvey:

Closed from: Wednesday, January 15, 2020, and run through Friday, March 13, 2020

The contractor will be installing new storm sewer infrastructure as part of the 2018 Drainage Bond Projects, which should help alleviate flooding in the area during heavy rain. 

Motorists are urged to find alternate routes during the road closure and exercise extreme caution and patience when traveling along in the area.  Motorists should expect some delays and congestion.
