Texas Border Business
The Pharr Community Theater will offer open auditions for the two-act play, A SINGULAR STRIKE/UNA HUELGA SINGULAR, a dramatic comedy, by José Manuel Álvarez. Four women and three men between the ages of 30 and 70 are needed, as well as two teenagers, one boy and one girl, between the ages of 13 and 17. The play is entirely in Spanish, and actors must be fluent in the language to be cast.
Auditions will be held on May 20 and May 21 between 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm., in person at the Pharr Community Theater, 213 W Newcombe Ave., Pharr, TX. They will be cold-reading from the script on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.
Rehearsals will be scheduled Monday through Friday, May 27 through July 23, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Performances will be open to the public from July 24 through August 3.
Participation of the selected talents is voluntary, and a limited budget will be allocated to the production and theater design team.
The play will be directed by Wendy Lara and Pedro García.
Play Description: Teresa Pacheco, a mother and wife who wants to end domestic, “verbal” abuse in her home, decides to stage a strike. “Out with my mother-in-law,” “I am not a domestic machine,” “I demand equality in my home.” Staged in Mexico, the entire country becomes aware of Teresa’s plight, caused by her family’s behavior. Will they support her in her singular strike? You’ll have to see this strong theatrical comedy.

El Pharr Community Theater ofrecerá audiciones/casting abierto al público para la obra teatral en dos actos, UNA HUELGA SINGULAR, de José Manuel Álvarez. -Comedia/Drama. Se necesitan 4 mujeres y 3 hombres entre edades de 30 a 70 años, y dos jóvenes, un joven y una jovencita entre edades de 13 a 17. La obra comedia/drama es completamente en español y los actores deberán dominar el idioma para quedar.
Los dos días de casting son martes 20 de mayo y miércoles 21 de mayo entre las 6:30 pm y 8:30 pm. Se llevarán a cabo en persona el Pharr Community Theater, 213 W Newcombe Ave. Pharr, TX., y serán lectura en frío del guión por orden de llegada. No se necesita cita previa.
Los ensayos serán programadas de lunes a viernes del 27 de mayo al 23 de julio entre las 7pm y las 9:30 pm. Las funciones quedarán abiertas al público del 24 de julio al 3 de agosto.
La participación de los talentos, que queden, es voluntaria con un bajo presupuesto para el equipo de producción y diseño teatral.

Descripción de la obra:
Teresa Pacheco, una madre y esposa que quiere terminar el abuso doméstico, verbal, dentro de su casa y decide formar una huelga singular. “Fuera mi suegra”, “No soy máquina doméstica”, “Exijo Igualdad en mi hogar”. Puesta en México, todo el país se da cuenta de los apuros de Teresa, causados por el comportamiento de su familia. ?La Apoyaran en su huelga singular? Tendrás que ver esta fuerte y divertida obra teatral.
