Hidalgo County Elections Department will celebrate by extending its office hours

EDINBURG – In celebration of National Voter Registration Day, the Hidalgo County Elections Department will extend its regular business hours and will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020.

“Our office staff will be ready to assist voters with any questions, they may have regarding their voter registration status,” said Yvonne Ramón, Elections Administrator. “This will give voters an opportunity to register or make changes to their voter registration record in preparation for the upcoming November 2020 Presidential Election.” 

National Voter Registration Day is celebrated on the fourth Tuesday of September and is a nonpartisan civic holiday that encourages people to Register to Vote.

Ramón states that a drive-through service will be implemented beginning at 5 p.m. and will run through 8 p.m. at the Elections Department’s main office, located at 213 S. Closner Blvd., Edinburg.  Voters can practice social distancing while inquiring or making changes to their voter registration records from the convenience of their car. Voters are asked to wear a mask adhering to Hidalgo County COVID-19 guidelines.

The last day to register to vote for the November 2020 Presidential Election is Monday, Oct. 5. Early Voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 13, and will run through Friday, Oct. 30.  Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.   Please visit www.hidalgocounty.us/elections for up to date election information.
