In a world where social media connects children to friends, trends, and entertainment, it can also open the door to serious online risks. This presentation is designed to empower families with practical tools and information to help keep children safe.

Topics will include:
Practical safety settings by platform and device
How grooming and sextortion schemes work — and what red flags to watch for
Conversation starters that help parents get past “one-word answers”
Reporting pathways and where to get help
Tips for setting family tech rules that actually stick

“Our goal is to help parents and young people feel confident and informed,” said Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala. “By understanding how these online dangers operate, families can take proactive steps to protect themselves and encourage open communication.”
