Brownsville Students to Connect with Astronauts Aboard Space Station

Brownsville, TX (2021) – Students from Brownsville, Texas will have an opportunity to interact with astronauts aboard the International Space Station via a question-and-answer session. The Earth-to-space call will air live between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, May 11 on NASA TV, the NASA app, and on the agency's website.

Bobcats Wrap up Grand Season

RIO HONDO – The Rio Hondo High School softball team ended a grand season as the reigning champion for District 32-4A. The team went undefeated in the district (10-0) and climbed to No. 10 in the state softball poll released by the Texas Girls Coaches Association on April 26. RHHS ended the season on May 2 with an impressive overall 13-2 record after playing Alice High School in the bi-district play-offs.

172 Migrants Apprehended in Five Failed Smuggling Attempts

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents successfully foil five human smuggling attempts and apprehend 172 migrants. Yesterday morning, RGV Border Patrol agents, with assistance from the Starr County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended 64 migrants from a human smuggling stash house located in Rio Grande City, Texas. The migrants are citizens of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. All of the noncitizens were taken into Border Patrol custody.
