McAllen — Raymond “Ray” Thomas, Partner of law firm Kittleman Thomas, PLLC is pleased to announce his candidacy for the office of Chief Justice of the Thirteenth Court of Appeals.
“With the support of my family, friends and law firm, I am excited to announce my candidacy for Chief Justice of the Thirteenth Court of Appeals. I have been blessed in so many ways and now is my time to serve the people of Texas as a member of the judiciary, ensuring that justice is served with integrity” Thomas said.
Thomas co-founded and built one of the premier law firms in South Texas. He is Board Certified in civil trial law and has been recognized by his peers as one of the top lawyers in Texas. Public service, however, is where his heart is. “The practice of law is not a right, it’s a privilege, and I’ve spent my entire legal career striving to be worthy of this great privilege.” Thomas said.
Thomas has served in leadership positions on several statewide and local boards and organizations such as:
- President of the Texas Young Lawyers Association
- Commissioner on the Texas Access to Justice Commission
- Texas Supreme Court Grievance Oversight
- Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas
In addition, Thomas has served in various leadership positions in the local bar association, the Hidalgo County Pro Bono Project, the Vannie Cook Children’s Cancer Foundation, and the McAllen Boys & Girls Club.
Thomas has been publicly recognized as one of the top 5% of Texas lawyers by his peers through Texas Super Lawyers, and his peers rank him as an AV-rated lawyer (highest level of professional excellence). “While I am humbled to be recognized by my peers, I would trade every professional accolade for just one – Super Dad” Thomas said.
“I married Sandra Gonzalez 28 years ago and she blessed me with great children. I look forward to the opportunity to campaign hard for your support and, if it is the will of the people, to serve as your Chief Justice of the Thirteenth Court of Appeals.”
