EDINBURG, Texas – Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios will host the annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day “WEAAD” Parade in collaboration with the Hidalgo County Family Violence Task Force; Texas Department of Family and Protective Services; Adult Protective Services; Silver Ribbon Community Partners; University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Police Department; the RGVEZ Victims of Crime Program, and the Edinburg Police Department.
The parade brings awareness to elder abuse, which is nationally observed during the month of June. The parade will take place on June 14 at 9 a.m. at the Bert Ogden Arena Parking lot located at 4900 S I-69 in Edinburg.
The parade will pass by adult day cares to show solidarity and support for the elderly.
Please decorate your vehicles with the color purple and bring posters in support of Elder Abuse Awareness.
Parade participants should arrive at 8:30 a.m.
