Located in Del Norte Industrial Park in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, a site, which was developed by Grupo Rio San Juan, Alcom Electronicos de Mexico announced that the expansion of their building opened on July 14th.
This expansion of 15,369 m2 (165,428 Ft2) on two levels; represents an investment of $18.3 million USD and will generate 650 new jobs bringing their total workforce to 3,600 employees.
The company manufactures radio and wire harnesses for car manufacturers around the world, which include BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Chrysler, Nissan and Subaru.
Mr. Marco Cira, Managing Director of the company stated that since its beginning in 1992 with an initial staff of 25 employees Alcom Electronicos de Mexico found the skilled labor and competitive advantages necessary for growth. With their current labor force of 3,600 people, they have a high stake in Reynosa. “We are here to win and here to stay, we have grown and continue to grow in this city,” Mr. Cira stated.
He also commented that the authorities and government agencies have played a key role as promoters and facilitators of investment. He continued to say, “The State of Tamaulipas, the Municipal Government of Reynosa and the McAllen Economic Development Corporation have supported us tremendously.”
Keith Patridge, President of McAllen EDC told Texas Border Business that he and the team at MEDC have worked with this Maquiladora for the last 22 years. Patridge was part of the efforts to bring this company to the McAllen/Reynosa maquiladora program.
McAllen EDC has been instrumental in attracting the companies already here to this area and through this effort have created thousands of jobs, initiated the face change of the region with tremendous success. “We work almost on a daily basis with them,” Patridge said.
This expansion was built by the Construction Division of Grupo Rio San Juan, a leader in the development and construction of Industrial buildings, parks, and businesses in the region. TBB
