PENITAS – The former Mayor of Penitas will be sworn in as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, Place 2 tonight in Penitas.
The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at Faith Fellowship Bible Church in Peñitas.
Ochoa has dedicated his life to public service. He was elected to the Peñitas City Council in 1998 and during that time saw his community of less than 3,000 residents grow to almost 8,000. In 2008, he was elected Mayor of Peñitas and served there until his resignation this week. Ochoa helped secure funding for a new waste water system to replace the septic tanks previously used in his community. He also helped transition the police department from part time to full time status, attracted major businesses to create job opportunities and is currently working to extend roadways along 3 Mile Lin
