RGV FC TOROS ACQUIRE FIRST HOME WIN IN MATCH AGAINST SWOPE PARK RANGERS

Edinburg, Texas, May 21– The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros beat Swope Park Rangers 4-1 to get their first home win in the club’s history. Jose “Memo” Rodriguez, Rob Lovejoy and Emilio Garcia scored for the Toros Daniel Salloi.

The first half was full of excitement. In the 12th minute, Rio Grande Valley FC Toros’ Jose “Memo” Rodriguez collected the ball from a through pass and buried it into the lower corner to make the game 1-0. Memo got his brace when he found the net again in the 25th minute. The goal came off a very similar play, flipped to the left now, and assisted by Robert Casner. The Swope Park Rangers pulled one back in the 40th minute when Kristopher Tyrpak cut the ball back to Daniel Salloi. 

The Swope Park Rangers spent the second half testing the Toros defense and seeking the equalizer as the Toros sought to extend their lead. In the 51st minute, Ranger’s Zac Lubin made a save down low to deny Casner inside the box. In the 60th minute, the Swope Park Rangers got dangerously close to getting their second game. Rangers’ Tyrpak redirected Kevin Oliviera’s corner. Toros’ Rob Lovejoy sneaked the ball through Rangers’ goalkeeper Lubin, in the 89th minute to extend the Toros lead. Emilio Garcia scored again for the Toros in stoppage time to seal the game 4-1.

The Toros will now travel to San Antonio on Wednesday, May 25 to face in state rival San Antonio FC. This will be the second of four encounters. The Toros won 3-2 in the previous match between the two clubs.
