Driver Mobilization Campaign
McAllen Police Department will enforce a No-Refusal initiative during the Independence Day Holiday June 27, 2014 to July 7, 2014 and as part of the Texas Department of Transportation Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Grant and the Impaired Driver Mobilization Grant in an effort to promote safe driving with its education and enforcement efforts. McAllen Police Department is joining forces with other law enforcement agencies across Texas and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to eliminate drunk driving.
McAllen Police Department will have officers looking for drivers that are drinking alcohol and/or intoxicated while operating motor vehicles in an effort to enforce DWI laws and to conduct blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to provide a breath or blood sample.
The message is simple: if you drink and drive, you subject yourself to arrest. Police will conduct a breath or blood sample, and a blood search warrant on suspects who refuse to provide a breath or blood sample.
The 2014 Texas Independence Day traffic safety campaign’s key message is “DWI Hangovers Don’t Go Away.” Driving while intoxicated can result in driver license revocation, time in jail, financial headaches, career derailment, social isolation, physical injuries, and even death.
