
Washington, DC – On Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 10:00AM EST (9AM CST), the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border, Maritime, and Global Counterterrorism, chaired by Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), will hold a hearing titled “Enhancing DHS’ Efforts to Disrupt Alien Smuggling Across Our Borders.” Representatives from the
Department of Homeland Security, Border Patrol, the State of Arizona and the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) will testify before the committee to review trends and challenges in deterring and disrupting human smuggling. The hearing also coincides with the release of a new GAO report titled “Alien Smuggling: DHS Needs to Better Leverage Investigative Resources and Measure Program Performance along the Southwest Border.”
